A confident mother.

If you’re a living, breathing human woman you’ve experienced moments that filled with anything but confidence. Or maybe you were confident and it turns out you should’ve slowed your roll a bit. Funny story: I didn’t know how to work a diaper with my first born and the peditrician had to teach me why the baby kept peeing up his back. I was confident that at could at least put a diaper on.

We all have times like this, at least I hope I’m not the ony one with these kinds of experiences.

I have unlocked the freedom of being a confident mother a few years ago and maybe it comes with age and experience but I think it’s just a mindset switch that anyone in any stage of life can do. It’s seriously life changing.

Stop caring so much about what other people think. Stop compairing your choices and children to people on the internet or in real life. Stop going to strangers who don’t know your family for advice.

Do these three things.. right now, and instantly build up your confidence.

I’m a firm believer in tough love, learning through mistakes and growing through hardships. You will never build confidence in life, in any area of life, if you don’t grow through some things. You have to do things on your own like making your own desicions about kids wardrobs, diet and education. When you free yourself up to succeed and fail without the pressure of living up to Sally and her kids you really do build up a confidence within yourself to be the mother you want to be (and that may not look like any friend or influencer out there).

Obviously it’s fine to seek out advice or ideas but do it without feeling 100% tied to whatever answers you come away with.

For the Christian moms out there, being grounded in Christ is the most freeing thing. You know to live a life pleasing to the Lord, raise your babies to know God by teaching them and praying with them, and rest in the knowledge that God loves those kids more than you could even imagine.

You can have a confidence in knowing that you and God are teaming up to raise your children. You can run to Him for the good, bad and all of the in between. That is the greatest confidence boost out there.

If you’ve come to a similar realization in your parenting journey I wondering if today you can encourage yourself in the desicions your making today for yourself and children.

Disclaimer: if you’re married I hope you know I wouldn’t advocate skirting around your husband’s guidance in your confidence. These decisions are the result of coming together as a team raising these kids.
