Reformation Day. The story goes that Martin Luther nailed his 95 thesis to the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany denouncing the Catholic Church and went on to reform the church.
I read through the 95 thesis and I would advise everyone to read through Luther’s objection. Luther’s main objection was against the abuse of selling indulgences not the practice itself. Most of what he wrote was in favor of the Church. It wasn’t until his later writings that things went off the rails.
But I digress.
Martin Luther created a schism in the church and now we’re told to celebrate something that God never wanted for his church. No matter the side you land on (Protestant or Catholic/Orthodox) we should not celebrate what grieves God.
Maybe I’m late to the party but over the past couple of years my eyes have been opened to many things regarding my faith. It started with the history of how denominations began, moved onto authority, and has landed me at the feet of a chasm.
My beliefs on many things have changed and I don’t see myself as the same person I was two years ago and I think it’s for the better. I’m on a journey, fully surrendered to God and I look forward to the future.
